About Me

That Road Trip Lady

I am Priyanka Dhankher and I run this blog. Or as I should say, I ‘drive’ this blog.

Since my dad was in the Indian navy, I have lived in many cities in India for substantial periods of time. I must be amongst the very few defence kids who used to love those inter-city transfers. Things that people dreaded were things that I used to look forward to: Packing – unpacking! Settling – Unsettling!

It was probably then that the travel bug bit me.

The first thing I did as soon as I turned 18 was to get my driving license and since then I have almost always been the designated driver on road trips. (It’s been a happy coincidence I have been surrounded by friends and family who do not enjoy driving!)

Most of my road trips till date have either been with my mom or with one of my female friends. One of my first long road trips was from Delhi to Mumbai (around 1500 km) with my mom in 2017. The initial few trips took a lot of convincing at home – for obvious reasons!

With this blog, I would like to share my experiences (especially in India) and provide some tips based on my own experiences. And in the process, hopefully encourage more women to hit the road and experience the ‘inner’ beauty of India.

As I have realised with time, for me it’s as much about the journey as it’s about the destination. And sometimes more!
